The Dirty Francos

I am ranking the teams this year as follows:
RB’s will be scored out of 10 points (most important)
QB’s will be scored out of 9 Points
Defenses will be scored out of 9 Points
WR’s will be scored out of 8 Points
TE’s will be scored out of 5 Points
Bench will scored out of 3 Points (Least important)
Out of 44

The Dirty Francos

QB’s: Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick

McNabb hasn’t played one full season in the last three years. When he is in he is great, when he isn’t, you better have a good backup. Having lived through the turmoil last season I would say this is a risky pick.

After the 2005 season Jim Mora came to the conclusion that Mike Vick isn’t going to be the guy who passes for 4,000 yards in a season. Once he understood that Vick had his best fantasy season ever racking up over 1,000 yards rushing and passing for about 2,500 yards. This is the kind of production we have been looking for out of Vick since he was a rookie. The only thing that worries me is this whole dog fighting issue that seems to have come to fruition. Here is what was said July 14th about the situation….

“Jul 14 Alan Judd, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Surry County, Va., officials may present the case of alleged dog fighting to a local grand jury July 24. Officials have sent mixed signals on whether they have enough evidence to bring charges. Federal prosecutors have described a large dog fighting operation that they say operated out of a 15-acre property owned by Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick.”

If Vick can stay out of trouble and McNabb from being injured this could be one of the top tandems in fantasy this season.

8/9

WR’s: Donald Driver, Calvin Johnson, Matt Jones

Driver put together another productive year with 1300 yards receiving and 8 touchdowns. He has improved his receiving totals in each of the last three seasons and is definitely Favre’s favorite target. He isn’t a #1 in my eyes, but he is Lance’s #1.

Calvin Johnson is just a rookie, but damn he was an animal in college. I personally think he is ready for the NFL, but I think a lot of rookie receivers are ready for the NFL that aren’t. I do think he could make a huge impact this season, but just because he is a rookie I can’t give him a good rating.

Matt Jones as a number three receiver is just trifling. Lord, what was Lance thinking? He has worse numbers than a tight end and somehow he made it into Lance’s starting lineup. Funny thing is I think Lance has two better receivers sitting on his bench. I’m sure he will change things by week 1 or 2.

Overall just Driver is proven; I can’t give this receiving core a good rating

4/8

Running Backs: Frank Gore, Willis McGahee

Gore easily led the NFC in rushing last year rushing for nearly 1700 yards. I expect him to get more touchdowns this season as the 49ers offense just continues to get better. This guy is a beast and will have a great year entering only his third season as a pro.

McGahee is a much faster runner than Jamal Lewis and should be able to hit the holes much better than stuttering Jamal did last season. McGahee had nearly 1,000 yards rushing behind a terrible line in Buffalo. I’m not saying the Baltimore offensive line is great, but it should be much better than he is used to.

Two solid backs

9/10

TE: Jeremy Shockey

This guy is an animal when he is on the field, but he hasn’t completed a full season in his career. If he can stay healthy he is one of the best for sure.

5/5

Defenses: Baltimore, Miami

Two top 5 defenses here

9/9

Bench: Garcia, Curtis, Cotchery, Vincent, Garrard, Williams

2/3

Besides his receivers, a very solid team…..

OVERALL SCORE: 37/44…… 84%
